As the weather begins to change, so do our outdoor activities. The gym can be good (especially while enjoying the air conditioning during the summer) but sometimes nothing can beat a run or walk on a brisk autumn day. Zip Line & Dine
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center – 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214
When: Oct. 26th, Nov. 16th, Nov. 30th (must register 24 hours prior to event)
What: Zipline and Dine take guests soaring through the sky and climbing through the trees with a chef-curated meal awaiting at the end of the adventure. Take in a bird’s eye view of the USNWC as you fly on the Center’s longest zipline, spanning 1,625 feet before traversing a series of ropes bridges and platforms, and zipping 1,100 feet back down to Hawk Island. After a short hike back, you’ll be greeted with a three-course meal with new culinary creations being featured each week.

BOOgie & BOOze
Where: The Rabbit Hole – 1801 Commonwealth Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205
When: Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am
What: Join us for a SPOOK-tacular morning at the Rabbit Hole in Plaza Midwood on October 27! Beginning at 10 a.m., we’ll have an hour-long cardio dance sesh in the BLACKLIGHT, followed by a costume contest. But we’re all winners here – in addition to a great sweat, each dancer will receive a complimentary mimosa after class. The prize for best costume: $25 gift card to Peculiar Rabbit AND two free class passes to ANY of our dance fitness events.

A Shot in the Dark Trail Race
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center – 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214
When: Nov. 2nd @ 7:15 pm
What: Break out your headlamp (or flashlight) and running shoes for the 4th annual A Shot in the Dark Night Trail Race. Once the sun has set and the trails are dark, participants take on the 5k or 10k distance through the trail system along the Catawba River. Be sure to join us for an evening of brisk night running at the USNWC. Note: All participants are required to wear a headlamp or carry an illumination light source.

Novant Health Charlotte Marathon
Where: Charlotte, NC (starting line on Graham St.)
When: Nov. 3rd @ 7:30 am, 7:45 am, 7:50 am
What: The Novant Health Charlotte Marathon is an annual race that takes place in Charlotte, NC every November. The event features five different races: the marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay, 5K, and kid’s 1-mile run.
Runners experience the sights and sounds of the Southeast’s fastest-growing city, including the Queen City’s signature tree-lined streets, historic landmarks, major sporting venues, and the most eclectic neighborhood parties. The race finishes in the heart of Uptown Charlotte at Romare Bearden Park. With entertainment along the course, major headliners at the finish line festival, and five distance options, it’s a race for all runners!

Rural Hill’s Amazing Maize Maze
Where: Historic Rural Hill – 4431 Neck Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078
When: Weekends this Fall from Sept. 22nd – Nov. 4th
What: There’s more than enough fun and confusion for all! Get lost in our giant seven-acre corn maze featuring over two miles of interconnecting paths. One of the largest in the Southeast, our maze is sure to please! The whole of Rural Hill’s 265 acres is available to you and your group during maze hours – take a hayride around the farm, enjoy local beer, wine, and cider, play a round of corn-hole, explore our historic site, play in our mini-mazes, have a picnic, hike our trails, pick out a pumpkin (in October,) & much, much more!

Long Creek Adventure Race
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center – 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28214
When: Nov. 17th @ 9 am
What: The inaugural Long Creek Adventure Race puts teams of two or three, as well as solo participants, to the test during either the 4 or 8-hour adventure race format. With a map provided at the beginning of the race, participants will trail run, mountain bike, and paddle their way through a series of checkpoints as quickly as possible throughout the USNWC property and along the Catawba River. Keep an eye out for the checkpoints along the way…you’ll need every point you can get to come out on top.

30th Annual Charlotte Southpark Turkey Trot
Where: Southpark Mall – 4400 Sharon Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211
When: Nov. 22nd @ 8 am
What: 2018 will mark the 30th Anniversary of the Charlotte South Park Turkey Trot, one of Charlotte’s longest-running events, and one of the largest events in North Carolina. The race has become an Annual Thanksgiving Day Tradition for over 10,000+ participants, representing families and friends across generations. It’s a happy and healthy way to start off one of the best days of the year!
