Brew Dash 6K and 12K
When: Saturday, June 15, 2019
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center – 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214
What: “Trail racing with a hoppy finish. Choose from two distances; the 6-pack distance (6K) for those who prefer brews over running, or the 12-pack distance (12K) for those who prefer running over brews. After the race, enjoy four 4 oz. samples of small-batch craft beer from Sycamore Brewing, Bold Missy Brewery, Amor Artis Brewing, and New Sarum Brewing brewed exclusively for Brew Dash participants over the age of 21.” .One of the most popular events around Charlotte.

Visit Crowders Mountain State Park
When: 7 days a week, 7am-9pm from May to September

What: Enjoy hiking the trails (difficulty levels from easy to strenuous) with some offering gorgeous views of the Charlotte skyline on a clear day, canoeing/kayaking, and fishing on the 9-acre lake, orienteering on two different trails, rock climbing, bouldering, picnicking and backpack or group camping. So grab some family and friends (including the furry kind) and explore this or other local state parks.

Discover the Secret Gardens of the City
Where: McGill Rose Garden in NoDa or the gardens at The Duke Mansion and Wing Haven Gardens & Bird Sanctuary in Myers Park.
What: Plan a lovely stroll through some of the most beautiful areas of Charlotte.
4th of July Celebration at USNWC
When: July 3 & 4, 2019 starting at 9am
Where: U.S. National Whitewater Center – 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214
What: “A summer classic, Whitewater’s two-day Fourth of July Celebration is back for its ninth year and will once again provide plenty of opportunities to get outside and active over the holidays. In addition to the typical pass activities and tour options, the festival will also feature live music, various yoga practices, Battle Royale SUP Sprint, and two days of booming firework shows overlooking the world’s largest man-made whitewater river.”

Summer Stream Stomp

Where: McDowell Nature Preserve – 15222 South York Road, Charlotte, NC 28278
What: Splashing around searching for macro-invertebrates is a great way to explore the biodiversity of a stream AND cool off during the hot summer days. Take a Paddleboat Ride
When: Summer Hours (Apr to Sep)- Mon – Fri 6 PM – 9 PM, Sat & Sun 11 AM – 9 PM
Where: Dave’s Paddle Boats At University Place – WT Harris Blvd and Hwy 29, Charlotte
What: Rent a paddleboat from Dave’s Paddle Boats at The Shoppes at University Place. The boats fit up to four people, so bring your family or friends.

Tread Nightly and Tread Brightly

What: “Grab your head lamp and get ready to hit the trails under the stars. The Tread Nightly Trail Half Marathon and 4 Miler takes place at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, offering runners two distance options for this one-of-a-kind night race. Looking to run, sleep, and run again? Camp out with us, then rise with the sun for the Tread Brightly Half Marathon and 4 Miler the next morning. The morning edition offers both distances available the night before. Treadmeister Awards as well as Half Marathon Series points are up for grabs throughout each race.”
